The following activities are usually done after the harvest:


>>> “Ngo-ot-Ngituo

Witness and participate in the Bidayuh art of roof making, thatching of palm leaves into roofing. Guests participate in the collection of leaves and thatching.

 

>>> “Ngiritiek”

Ngritiek is the delicate art of bamboo splitting usually done by the Bidayuh men folk to make walls for a house. Watch how the parang is handled when the guy do the splitting, applying the correct pressure to ensure the bamboo is evenly split and not broken.

 

>>> “Ngapit Tobuh”

The Bidayuh art of wine making from sugar cane. The juice is collected and boiled, tree bark herbs added then sealed in an earthen jar for about a week. No alcohol is used but the wine can make your head spin.

 

 

>>> “Natok-Nyopuh”

The art of harvesting wild honey. Watch the agility of the Bidayuh scaling the tall tapang trees to collect honey from bee hives hung from tapang branches high above ground. Hear the soft and sweet melody of the collectors when they sing to the bees to seek permission to harvest their honey. 

 

 

 

  

 

 

 

 

MOUNT SINGAI JUNGLE TREKING

 

Trekking in the virgin rain forest of the mystical Mount Singai is an experience not to be missed, re-living the arduous mountain climbing following the route of Singai’s forefathers of the 18th-19th century. Mount Singai resembles a table top that can be seen from the city of Kuching. Rising 1843ft. (562m). above sea level, the plateau was inhabited by the BiSingai or the people of Singai for more than  500 years. The first Catholic Mission outside Kuching was built at  Mount Singai in 1889. Now, it is the site of the Catholic Memorial Park and Pilgrimage Centre. Visitors come from all over the world to see and pray at the holy church.

 

The 5-hour trek starts at Kupuo Tubon winding up the mountain side till the peak. The trail passes through streams and creeks, gigantic fruit trees providing a natural green canopy of leaves. Savour the fresh air and have a dip in the unpolluted water of the numerous streams along the trail. Upon reaching the peak you will be entertained to a spectacular view of the surrounding villages and Kuching City. The chirping of insects and birds provide the natural symphony to encourage you on to the challenge. 

 

The trek down the mountain can take the same route or a different route passing on the way, the Memorial Centre and the Water fall and exiting at Kupuo Giang Bowang.

 

The climb is a fitting challenge for the adventurous seeking to challenge nature at its best.

 

Day 1 – Check in late afternoon. Rest of afternoon free to roam around in the farm or indulge in the farm activities; fishing, feeding the deer. Evening - dinner and cultural presentation.

 

Day 2 – Breakfast. Leave the farm for Mountain Treking. Lunch at the Memorial Park. Treking down the mountain and visit the waterfall. Dinner at farm.

 

Day 3- Breakfast. Check out late monrning.
